The purpose of this classification is to develop and implement a program of environmental monitoring and noise abatement, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws.

Essential Functions

Manages noise abatement and environmental programs; and manages the airport's noise abatement and environmental programs ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws.

Monitors collection of water samples; and monitors collection of water samples for environmental purposes and reports on corrective actions taken.

Plans develops and implements procedures for monitoring and reducing aircraft noise; and plans, develops and implements procedures that include noise abatement procedures, high noise events, curfew periods and public information programs.

Manages environmental events and programs; creates, plans, organizes, and implements community outreach events and programs, including community education, neighborhood cleanups, river and stream walks and cleanups, electronics recycling, paper shredding, and volunteer appreciation events; administers the adopt-a-stream program; and conducts field inspections, including plan review and inspections for storm water compliance.

Provides computer support and public relations services to airport administration; serves as computer administrator for the airport to resolve hardware software problems; and performs public relations duties, co-chairs annual Good Neighbor Day Air Show and other special events.

Conducts noise monitoring analysis and evaluation; and reviews, analyzes and evaluates information collected from noise monitors utilizing FAA data.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Civil or Aeronautical Engineering, Airport Administration, Airport Management or a related field required; previous experience in noise or environmental monitoring for airport operations preferred; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s

license.

Supplemental Information

Experience working in airport operations, or the aviation sector strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of data collection methods and environmental monitoring.

Familiarity with aviation regulations and industry standards.
