Our North America Sustainability team is searching for a Sustainability Advisor with strong GHG expertise. This person is a unique combination of a business strategist and GHG emission domain expert. The ideal candidate will have experience helping customers to estimate their GHG emissions across scopes 1-3 throughout a globally distributed food and agriculture focused supply chain. Additionally, this person should have experience leveraging modern digital ESG solutions (e.g. Salesforce Net Zero Cloud, IBM Envizi, Watershed Sustainability Platform) to estimate carbon emissions.
At Cognizant, you would be a member of Cognizant’s rapidly growing Sustainability Practice, where we help clients to identify and deploy technology solutions that enable them to more accurately and more efficiently monitor their ESG KPIs.
Following are key details about this role:
Responsibilities
- Serve as the domain expert for GHG emissions to Fortune 500 ESG leaders as a part of Cognizant’s digital transformation projects. This requires the ability to understand client pain points and then to recommend a digital solution that best meets the client’s needs.
- Lead client-facing conversations around the collection of key data sets to best estimate GHG emissions.
- Identify and recommend best opportunities for emissions reductions, including net zero pathways.
- Recommend industry best practices for ESG data collection to enable regulatory compliance (e.g. CSRD, EUDR, CA SB 261/253).
- Be an integral part of a team that develops highly strategic deliverables that will set the direction of our Fortune 500 clients for years to come.
- Encourage forward thinking solutions and a collaborative communication environment to achieve business buy in.
- Support internal business development and sales teams in formulating the value propositions around GHG emissions estimation and reduction opportunities, unlocking new outcomes for clients.
- Develop key partnerships with ESG software solution providers to enhance Cognizant’s partnerships and solution offerings.
- Partner with Cognizant’s sustainability team to create accelerators and high value reusable assets (e.g. content, thought leadership) to enhance Cognizant’s value proposition in the ESG space.
Qualifications
- Hands on experience helping clients to estimate their GHG emissions and create plans to reduce their emissions.
- Experience with FLAG based emissions modeling, including throughout diverse food and ag based supply chains
- Experience with complex international supply chains.
- High level understanding of ESG software solutions, such as Salesforce Net Zero Cloud, IBM Envizi, and Watershed Sustainability Platform.
- Proven success engaging with clients and development teams to identify opportunities for digital technology to help clients to achieve their sustainability goals.
- Client focused, detail-oriented, organized and independent thinker.
- Extensive knowledge of the GHG Protocol and its applications to Fortune 500 customers.
- Strong understanding of carbon emissions reporting frameworks (e.g. GRI, SASB, TCFD, CSRD)
- Experience influencing across organization levels, including with senior management
- Exceptional listening, written and verbal communication skills
- Over 5 years professional experience leveraging technology to achieve innovative outcomes in the sustainability sector.
- BS/MS in a sustainability related area of study. MBA preferred
Location: this role can be located anywhere in the USA or Canada.
Expected travel: 15%
